Relatively modern landmarks include the Assiut shells, the Khan Khalili plant, Al-Azhar University, and the ecological wood exhibition. In Abu Tig city, the Twin Mosque stands in Farghal, one of the most popular tourist attractions in Assiut Governorate. A monument to honor Sheikh Mohammed Ahmed Al-Farghal, born in 810 AH. The mosque covers a large area 27 km south of Assiut. Annually, in a grand procession, the celebration of Virgil's Birthday is held.
