Kafr El-Sheikh University

OVERVIEW

· Established on April 29, 2006 under Presidential Decree No. 129 , Kafrelsheikh University is one of Egypt’s newly created universities. It was a response to the Egypt’s SDGs, tapping into human and material resources. It came also to address the growing need to expand higher education capacity to admit high and technical school graduates, while following an expansion policy across public universities.

· Historically, the origins of the public institution are traceable to Kafrelsheikh -based Higher Farming Institute, which was created in 1957 . Part of the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE), the institute developed into a Faculty of Agriculture in 1969 , which was part of Alexandria University. The college was annexed to Tanta University when it was created in 1973 . In 1977 , the Faculty of Education was established. In 1983 , a Tanta branch opened in Kafrelsheikh . In 1985, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine was created. In 1988 , the Faculty of Specific Education (FSE) was created as part of the MoHE. In 1991 , under PD 1187 , the FSE became part of Tanta University. In 1990 , two branches of Tanta commerce and engineering colleges opened in Kafrelsheikh . In 1993, a branch of the Faculty of Arts opened, followed by another for the Faculty of Physical Education in 1997 . When a PD elevated Kafrelsheikh branch into a full-fledged university in 2006 , college branches were upgraded to autonomous colleges.

· All university colleges are based in Kafrelsheikh , Egypt, and the campus now includes 19 colleges and 3 institutes. The list includes:
