Matrouh University is one of the Egyptian public universities .Matrouh University is established based on the provisions of the Law on Organizing Universities No. (49) of 1972 and its executive regulations, and Ministerial Decree No. 1715 of 2018 amending some provisions of the executive regulations of the Law on organizing universities by adding Matrouh university to the universities stipulated in Article 2 of the Law on Organizing Universities .
President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi issued a decision appointing Prof. Moustafa Youssef El-Naggar, President of Matrouh University in September 2019.Thus , Prof. / Moustafa El-Naggar is the first president of Matrouh University after its official separation in September 2018 as an independent university to represent the university No. 25 of the Egyptian public universities
Matrouh University includes 11 faculties, namely: - Faculty of Education, Faculty of Desert and Environmental Agriculture, faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Faculty of Tourism and Hotels, Faculty of Nursing, Faculty of Kindergarten, Faculty of Physical Education for Boys, Faculty Petroleum and Mining Sciences, Faculty of Specific Education, Faculty of Archeology and Languages and Faculty of Computers and Artificial Intelligence . The University of Matrouh also includes the Department of Graduate Studies in Faculties: - Education, Desert and Environmental Agriculture, and Veterinary Medicine, Early childhood education, Tourism and Hotels and Physical education for boys
