Funding routes in Egypt
Egyptian government awards, such as cultural-exchange and Foreign Ministry scholarships, are usually requested through the student's own embassy or government and processed on the Ministry's portal within a fixed window each year. Al-Azhar allocates its own awards, and some private universities offer discounts. An award may waive tuition for all years or only some, so an admission offer does not include funding unless the award is confirmed in writing.

An award may cover all or part of tuition and may not include living costs, travel, insurance or residence fees.
