Tanta University is an Egyptian university based in the city of Tanta in Gharbia Governorate, it became independent as a university in 1972, after it was a branch of the University of Alexandria since its establishment under Republican Decree No. 1468 of 1962, a decision that established the Faculty of Medicine in Tanta.
